Song 6 introduces a technique quite commonly used in jazz, playing octaves as a solo.
Wes Montgomery was brilliant at this, he could play a whole solo just using octave’s and make it sound great.
This is what I tried to do in this exercise, play the whole solo just using octaves.
Another thing Wes did when he played he didn’t use a pick, he used his thumb which was a factor in his tone.
It made the tone warmer, not so bright as with a pick. You can try to experiment with this technique as well.
